Join us as we welcome Meredith Bean\, a Wildlife Biologist with the SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program! Meredith will discuss South Carolina’s sea turtle monitoring efforts\, including nesting and strandings\, and how we can all help protect these incredible creatures. This event is FREE with advance registration! ABOUT Meredith Bean is a Wildlife Biologist with the SCDNR Marine Turtle Conservation Program\, which is responsible for managing and protecting endangered and threatened sea turtles in South Carolina. Program Biologists coordinate two large networks of volunteers who work to identify\, count\, and protect the state’s sea turtle nests and respond to all reports of sick\, injured\, and deceased sea turtles along the entire coast. The program has been monitoring these threatened and endangered species since the 1970s\, which has ensured coastal decision-makers have accurate data depicting long-term trends to make informed management decisions to best protect and conserve sea turtles for future generations. Meredith spends her time in the field on remote barrier islands to find sea turtle nests\, works with many volunteers\, and enjoys raising awareness for how people can help protect sea turtles along our coast and in our waterways.
