DESCRIPTION:What to expect during a sound session with <a href="http://me. \nThe” target=”_blank” title=”me. \nThe”>me. \nThe session will begin with you choosing a position that is most comfortable to you whether it be sitting in a chair\, on the floor or lying down. I will ask you to set an intention of what you would like to achieve during the session. This might be anything from difficulties in a relationship that you are trying to work through\, something that you have been feeling is off\, but you just can’t figure out what it is\, doing a body check in or even for the sole purpose of taking a little time to yourself to relax and sink into a quiet\, safe space. I would encourage you to give a little thought to what you may want to set as an intention before you come into the session. Once you have a moment to visualize your intention\, we will work through some simple\, short breath work to release any unnecessary tension from the <a href="http://body. \nI” target=”_blank” title=”body. \nI”>body. \nI will walk you through grounding then we will sink into the <a href="http://session. \nWhile” target=”_blank” title=”session. \nWhile”>session. \nWhile I may use a variety of shamanic tools or even my own voice\, depending on how I am guided\, my main focus for these sessions is through the use Koshi Bells. There are four bells. Each is a specially tuned and designed chime that creates a tone and subsequent vibration equal to each of the four elements. The tone and vibration of each bell moves energy differently throughout the body. I play the bells as I am guided to help you achieve the intention that you set for the session. I will play anywhere from 30-45 <a href="http://minutes. \nOnce” target=”_blank” title=”minutes. \nOnce”>minutes. \nOnce the session is complete you will have a few moments to do some journaling if you journal\, to ask any questions or to share your experience with the group if you so choose. A warm hug goodbye and we release you back into the <a href="http://world. \n” target=”_blank” title=”world. \n“>world. \n Your Facilitator: \nKim is the owner of Reverie Compass in Jackson\, Tennessee where she and her husband have lived for the past 18 years. She facilitates spiritual and physical healing using Reiki\, sound modalities\, Shamanic techniques\, her intuition\, and the energy and wisdom of Spirit and her universal <a href="http://guides. \nKim’s” target=”_blank” title=”guides. \nKim’s”>guides. \nKim’s background: \nKim opened up to her inner work with a trip to Peru in June of 2022\, where she spent 12 days in retreat discovering the source of the anxiety and depression she had battled for the majority of her life. Once she was able to unlock what was driving those feelings\, she was able to do inner work to heal and sever the connections that had been binding her for so <a href="http://long. \nOn” target=”_blank” title=”long. \nOn”>long. \nOn a second trip\, in that same year\, for an additional 20 days of retreat\, she began working with a sound healer and Medicine woman named Luz Maria Ampuero. Luz Maria is the co-owner of Tierra Nuna Ayni retreat in the sacred Valley of Peru. Kim continues an ongoing mentorship program with Luz Maria\, and has become part of the Nuna Ayni <a href="http://family. \nWhen” target=”_blank” title=”family. \nWhen”>family. \nWhen Kim started working actively as a healer\, she realized that it would be a great benefit to be able to access additional energy. She then studied Usuru Reiki under Elaine Canepa\, owner of Your Inner Source\, in Memphis <a href="http://Tennessee. \nKim” target=”_blank” title=”Tennessee. \nKim”>Tennessee. \nKim loves enriching her skills and spirit by continued training in Peru and throughout the United States. DESCRIPTION:A core group of folks in the Charleston-Summerville area contacted Aroha Afro Latin Dance about teaching Kizomba. We are now\, travelling from Florence two Sundays a monthto offer Kizomba focused classes. It is rooted in another music and dance style called Semba. It is danced by families and friends at community gatherings. It is danced in a close embrace\, like dancing while hugging someone. There are adaptations that have been made to Kizomba like Urban Kiz. Kizomba is the foundation. Urban Kiz the variation. We are teaching Kizomba.  \nKizomba has become overly sexualized in some circles and that version is not what we are teaching. Naturally drawn to dance\, as a teenager she participated in grassroots performing arts groups that focused on using dance to address issues of social importance such as racism\, the equality of women and men\, and substance abuse. ​With nearly 20 years of dance experience\, in countries around the world and at home\, Adalia has seen the power of dance as a tool to create communities rooted in friendship\, mutual respect\, and a deeper connection with one’s <a href="http://self. \n” target=”_blank” title=”self. \n“>self. \n As a teenager\, she found an additional outlet for her creativity as a writer of poetry and performing Spoken word pieces in coffee shops. While attending Coastal Carolina University she was first introduced to Latin Dance in the living room of her best friend and wrote and performed her first choreopoem\, “My Dear Mother Africa”. \n As a young adult\, she traveled the world and it was during her travels that she honed her skills as a Latin Dancer and became a certified instructor under the tutelage of Son\, Na-Ri of SalsaIn Academy in Seoul\, South Korea. While in Seoul\, she also partnered with MIZY\, a UNESCO foundation\, and facilitated and directed a program called “HipHopucation”. This program followed the roots of modern day Hip-Hop from Africa to present day. The collective artistic work of her students culminated in a performance for the <a href="http://public. \nRecently” target=”_blank” title=”public. \nRecently”>public. \nRecently\, while working as a professor of public speaking at Francis Marion University\, she created and taught courses on the History of Afro Latin Dance and Music and Hip-Hop: An American Story. The semester-long courses concluded with a performance for the public which served as the final.  \nShe continues to be dedicated to the skill and craft of dance instruction which is reflected in her own education and professional development.  \nDEGREES: Coastal Carolina University* History BA with a Theater Minor* Masters in TeachingSALSA: * Completed 60 training hours receiving certification in Black Belt Salsa with Edie “The Salsa Freak” and is a Black Belt System franchise owner.
