10 Charleston County Football Teams Take the Field Friday for Dave Spurlock CCSD Jamboree
Charleston County high school football fans will get their first major taste of Friday night lights this week.
The 4th Annual Dave Spurlock CCSD Football Jamboree is set for Friday, August 14, 2026, bringing 10 Charleston County School District programs together for five preseason matchups at North Charleston Regional Stadium.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with the first matchup kicking off at 6 p.m. CCSD’s official athletics page and district calendar continue to list the jamboree as scheduled for Friday night.
Five Matchups Featuring 10 CCSD Programs
This year’s jamboree features teams from across Charleston County, from downtown Charleston and North Charleston to West Ashley, Mount Pleasant and Johns Island.
The current schedule is:
6:00 p.m. — North Charleston vs. Burke
6:30 p.m. — Military Magnet vs. R.B. Stall
7:00 p.m. — Baptist Hill vs. Wando
7:30 p.m. — West Ashley vs. Lucy Beckham
8:00 p.m. — Academic Magnet vs. St. John’s
CCSD notes that only the 6 p.m. opener has a fixed start time. Times for the remaining matchups are approximate and will depend on how the evening progresses.
These Will Be Shortened Preseason Games
Fans shouldn’t expect five full regulation football games Friday night.
Each matchup will consist of two 12-minute halves with a running clock, giving each program 24 minutes of game action.
The jamboree format allows coaches to evaluate players against another school in a competitive atmosphere while limiting the amount of contact and playing time before the regular season begins.
For fans, it also means seeing 10 different Charleston County programs during a single evening.
North Charleston and Burke Open the Night
North Charleston and Burke will get the night started at 6 p.m.
The Cougars enter Friday with a recent coaching change. North Charleston head coach Adrain Grady stepped down earlier this month, with the program naming an interim coach ahead of the season. The jamboree against Burke is still listed as North Charleston’s next preseason appearance.
After the opener, Military Magnet and R.B. Stall will take the field before Baptist Hill faces Wando.
West Ashley and Lucy Beckham follow in one of the evening’s all-Class 5A matchups, while Academic Magnet and St. John’s are scheduled to close out the jamboree.
More Than Football: Ticket Sales Benefit the Schools
The jamboree also serves as a fundraiser for the participating programs.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit all 10 schools taking part in the event, according to CCSD.
Admission is $10 per person, while children 5 years old and younger are admitted free.
Tickets can be purchased at the stadium or online through GoFan. The current online listing shows a $10 ticket plus a $1 service fee.
CCSD IDs and valid 2026-27 South Carolina High School League athletic passes will also be accepted at the gate.
Who Was Dave Spurlock?
The annual event honors Dave Spurlock, a longtime Lowcountry athletic leader and former Charleston County School District athletic director.
The district describes Spurlock as a longtime figure in local athletics, and the preseason event bearing his name has now reached its fourth edition.
The jamboree has developed into an early-season showcase for CCSD football programs while also giving the community an opportunity to support multiple schools during one event.

A Huge Friday Night for Lowcountry High School Football
The Dave Spurlock jamboree is only one of several major preseason football showcases happening across the Charleston area Friday.
The Dorchester County Showdown will bring Ashley Ridge, Summerville, Fort Dorchester and Woodland together at Ashley Ridge High School.
Meanwhile, Berkeley High will host the 9th Annual Moncks Corner Lions Club Football Jamboree, featuring eight programs in four matchups.
Add the Dave Spurlock jamboree’s 10 CCSD programs, and 22 high school football teams are scheduled to participate across the three Charleston-area showcases Friday night.
For football fans around the Lowcountry, the regular season may not officially be underway just yet — but Friday night should certainly feel like it.
