5 Charleston Legends Nominated for SC Football Hall of Fame
The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame has officially released its Class of 2025 Nomination Ballot, and the Lowcountry is showing out.
The Hall, based in Greenville, honors players who have made a significant impact on the game and have deep ties to the Palmetto State. This year, the ballot is stacked with talent from the Charleston Metro Area—from Super Bowl champions to collegiate record-breakers.
Voting is open to the public until December 15, 2025. This is your chance to make sure the Holy City gets the representation it deserves.
Here are the 5 legends from the Charleston MSA that need your vote:

1. AJ Green (Summerville)
- The Resume: Summerville High School, University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals.
- The Legacy: A 7-time Pro Bowler and one of the most dominant wide receivers of his era. Before he was tearing up the NFL, he was putting Summerville on the map.
- Why He Deserves It: He’s arguably one of the greatest athletes to ever come out of SC, period.

2. Roddy White (James Island)
- The Resume: James Island High School, UAB, Atlanta Falcons.
- The Legacy: The Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor inductee led the NFL in receptions in 2010 and amassed over 10,000 receiving yards in his career.
- Why He Deserves It: From James Island to becoming the Falcons’ all-time leading receiver, Roddy’s career is the definition of “Hall of Fame.”

3. Carlos Dunlap (North Charleston)
- The Resume: Fort Dorchester High School, Florida Gators, Bengals, Seahawks, Chiefs.
- The Legacy: A Super Bowl Champion (Chiefs ’22) with over 100 career NFL sacks. He was a force of nature on the defensive line for over a decade.
- Why He Deserves It: He brought a ring home to North Charleston and has been a consistent defensive powerhouse since his days at the Fort.

4. Dexter Coakley (Mt. Pleasant)
- The Resume: Wando High School, Appalachian State, Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Rams.
- The Legacy: A 3-time Pro Bowler and College Football Hall of Famer. At App State, he was a two-time Buck Buchanan Award winner (top defensive player in FCS).
- Why He Deserves It: He is widely considered one of the greatest FCS players of all time and anchored the Cowboys’ defense for years.

5. Jack Douglas (North Charleston)
- The Resume: North Charleston, The Citadel.
- The Legacy: A legendary quarterback for The Citadel who led the Bulldogs to a #1 ranking and a SoCon Championship in 1992. At one time, he was the all-time leading rushing QB in I-AA history.
- Why He Deserves It: He is a Bulldog icon and a hometown hero who dominated the college game right here in his backyard.
