Smalls Sliders Finally Announces Grand Opening for North Charleston Location
After months of construction and questions about when the bright-orange restaurant would begin serving customers, Smalls Sliders has announced a grand-opening celebration for its North Charleston location on Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m.
The new restaurant is located at 2280 Ashley Phosphate Road, just off Interstate 26 near Northwoods Mall. The property was previously occupied by Denny’s.
Smalls Sliders Brings Its Signature “Can” to the Lowcountry
Smalls Sliders is a Louisiana-based fast-food concept specializing in fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders.
Its restaurants are called “Cans” because of their modular, shipping-container-inspired design. The North Charleston location features the brand’s signature bright-orange—or “Smorange”—appearance, along with drive-thru and walk-up ordering.
The menu centers on cheeseburger sliders topped with melted American cheese, pickles and the restaurant’s signature Smauce. Customers can also order seasoned waffle fries, queso, milkshakes and the Biggie Smalls, which comes with double meat and double cheese.
What to Expect at the Grand Opening
The July 20 grand-opening event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and check presentation featuring representatives from Communities In Schools.
The nonprofit was selected as the North Charleston restaurant’s “Smalls Town Hero,” part of the brand’s effort to recognize organizations making an impact in the communities surrounding its restaurants.
More Smalls Sliders Locations Are Planned
The North Charleston restaurant is owned and operated by Elliott Strott through Sandlot Ventures LLC, a North Charleston-based franchise group.
The restaurant is the group’s first Smalls Sliders Can, but it is not expected to be the last. Earlier plans called for five locations across Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, and another area restaurant is already being developed.

Smalls Sliders’ official location page currently displays “Opening 07.16.26,” while recent local grand-opening announcements identify July 20 at 10 a.m. as the formal opening event. Customers planning to visit between July 16 and July 19 should check directly with the restaurant for its operating status and hours.
After a much longer wait than originally anticipated, North Charleston residents will finally be able to slide through and see what the Smorange Can is all about.
