Lowcountry 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride Returns for 25th Anniversary Remembrance
Hundreds of Lowcountry residents will have another way to honor the lives lost and the heroes of September 11 when the 6th Annual Lowcountry 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride returns to Mount Pleasant on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Twenty-five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, motorcycles will once again roll through the Charleston area as part of a community tradition built around remembrance.
The 6th Annual Lowcountry 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride takes place Sunday, Sept. 13, beginning and ending at the Omar Shrine Center, 176 Patriots Point Road in Mount Pleasant.
The event is free, with motorcycle registration beginning at noon and kickstands going up at 2:20 p.m. The overall gathering is scheduled to continue until approximately 7 p.m.
A Police-Escorted Ride Through Charleston
Following registration, riders will depart the Omar Shrine Center for a police-escorted route through the Charleston area before returning to the starting location.
The memorial ride was created as a way for motorcyclists and the broader community to remember the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11 attacks while also recognizing the first responders, service members and others whose lives were forever connected to that day.
This year’s gathering carries additional significance: September 11, 2026 marks 25 years since the attacks. The South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs has included the Lowcountry ride among events taking place across the state to commemorate the anniversary.
You Don’t Have to Ride to Participate
While motorcycles are at the center of the event, the day isn’t limited to riders.
The gathering at Omar Shrine Center will also feature music, food, raffles, giveaways and local and national vendors. Food will be provided by Top Shelf Catering & Beverage Company, according to event organizers.
Organizers are also seeking volunteers, giving residents another way to participate even if they aren’t joining the motorcycle procession.
For riders, the event is open to bikers from throughout South Carolina and beyond.

Twenty-Five Years Later, the Lowcountry Remembers
September 11 remains one of those dates that needs little explanation.
For some, remembrance takes the form of a ceremony. Others run, volunteer, raise a flag or simply stop for a moment of reflection.
On Sept. 13, hundreds of engines will provide another form of remembrance as riders gather in Mount Pleasant and take to Charleston-area roads with one message at the center of it all:
