What’s The Move!? Things To Do in Charleston This Weekend, Sept. 11–13

From 9/11 remembrance events and Charleston’s crosstown football rivalry to Oktoberfest, Drifter Fest, markets, concerts, brunches and nightlife, here’s what’s happening across the Charleston area this weekend.

Charleston has a packed weekend ahead, and this week’s What’s The Move!? stretches across the entire metro.

From downtown Charleston and North Charleston to Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek and Folly Beach, there are dozens of ways to get out of the house Sept. 11–13.

Friday also marks the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, with several remembrance events happening around the Lowcountry before the weekend shifts into festivals, football, markets, live music and nightlife.

Saturday • 6 PM • Johnson Hagood Stadium

Charleston Southern and The Citadel renew their crosstown rivalry with local bragging rights on the line.

More than 125 vintage, antique and artisan vendors are expected for one of Sunday’s biggest shopping events.

Friday, September 11

Friday spotlight: Remembering 9/11

Several Lowcountry events will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11.

At Credit One Stadium, participants in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will climb the equivalent of 110 stories in remembrance of fallen first responders.

Patriots Point will also hold its annual remembrance aboard the USS Yorktown.

If you’re looking for something family-focused later in the day, Up, Up & Read! continues at the Charleston Library Society with children’s literacy programming and author appearances.


Saturday, September 12

Saturday is the heavyweight day.

Saturday spotlight: Football + festival season

Charleston Southern and The Citadel meet at 6 PM at Johnson Hagood Stadium for the Lowcountry Boil Bowl, while North Charleston has a particularly busy Saturday with Park Circle Oktoberfest, LowTide Festival and MLW Fightland all happening across the city.

Summerville and Goose Creek are represented too, with markets, the EMBODI Youth Symposium and Twelfth Night at the Daning Amphitheater.

Sunday spotlight: Markets, King Street + one last ride

Pickers Hullabaloo brings more than 125 vendors to Firefly Distillery, while 2nd Sunday on King turns King Street into another afternoon of shopping, dining and strolling downtown.

The Lowcountry 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride also takes place Sunday, continuing the weekend’s remembrance of the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11.
