Drew Barrymore’s Berry-More Butter Lands at PopUp Bagels Charleston Sept. 17

The limited-edition collaboration with The Drew Barrymore Show will be available at PopUp Bagels locations nationwide through Sept. 30

Charleston bagel lovers are getting a celebrity collaboration this week.

Drew’s Berry-More Butter, a limited-edition creation from Drew Barrymore and PopUp Bagels, officially launches nationwide on Thursday, Sept. 17, including at the Charleston shop at 83 Mary Street.

The butter was created in connection with the Season 7 premiere of The Drew Barrymore Show and features a blend of berries with gooseberry as the centerpiece. PopUp Bagels describes the spread as sweet-meets-tart with a light pink color, designed to pair with the brand’s hot, whole bagels.

What Charleston customers can expect

The collaboration officially runs Sept. 17 through Sept. 30 at PopUp Bagels locations nationwide.

There is also an opening-day perk: the first 50 three-packs sold at each location on Sept. 17 will be gifted with Drew’s Berry-More Butter, according to the company.

That means Charleston customers hoping to try the limited release — and potentially score the launch-day giveaway — may want to get there early.

The story behind the collaboration

Barrymore developed the berry-forward concept herself after becoming a fan of PopUp Bagels.

According to the company, the partnership grew out of her interest in the brand and eventually became part of the celebration surrounding the seventh season of her daytime show. PopUp Bagels founder Adam Goldberg was also featured during premiere week to introduce the collaboration and discuss how the recipe came together.

The limited release continues PopUp Bagels’ strategy of rotating special spreads and collaborations alongside its core menu.

PopUp Bagels is still relatively new to Charleston

The Charleston shop represents PopUp Bagels’ first South Carolina location, part of a broader expansion plan that the company says could eventually include more than five additional locations around the state.

The brand has built its identity around a stripped-down approach: hot, whole bagels served fresh from the oven and meant to be torn apart and dipped rather than sliced and toasted. PopUp Bagels calls the method “Grip, Rip and Dip.”

The Charleston location is now part of the brand’s growing lineup of permanent shops nationwide.
