Caviar & Bananas Opens Third Charleston-Area Location on James Island

A familiar Charleston café has officially expanded beyond the peninsula, bringing its popular coffee, breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go offerings to James Island.

Caviar & Bananas opened its third Charleston-area location on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 1739 Maybank Highway, inside the Harris Teeter-anchored James Island Shopping Center.

The new café occupies the former Maple Street Biscuit Co. space near the intersection of Maybank Highway and Folly Road.

It’s a notable milestone for the locally founded business, marking its first location outside downtown Charleston.

A Familiar Charleston Favorite Finds a New Home

Known for combining a specialty café with a gourmet market experience, Caviar & Bananas has built a following among Charleston residents, students, downtown workers, and visitors.

Its original café is located at 51 George Street near the College of Charleston, with a second location at 170 Ashley Avenue near the Medical University of South Carolina.

Now, James Island residents have a neighborhood location of their own.

The new storefront includes an outdoor patio and brings the company’s café-and-market concept to a shopping center serving both island residents and commuters.

What’s on the Menu?

Customers can expect many of the same offerings available at the downtown locations, including:

  • Breakfast sandwiches and morning favorites
  • Made-to-order lunch sandwiches
  • Coffee and espresso beverages
  • Fresh grab-and-go selections
  • Specialty café and market items

The company has also discussed the possibility of expanding its take-home food offerings to serve families and customers stopping by after work or school.

For James Island residents looking for a quick breakfast, a casual lunch, or an afternoon coffee run, the new location adds another option to the neighborhood.
